Will Somebody Who Actually Read The Senate Report Please Step Forward ...
Arggghhhh!!!!!
I spent about an hour on an article mercilessly shredding Republican gerbils who agreed to the
Senate Intel report s released yesterday. These reports will be used to prove Bushlied (
and should therefore be impeached in the eventuality that the Dems retake the House next fall. Woohoo!!!).
But you know what? The
NYT's article I linked to is spinning the report. Senate Democrats, who seem to have the best access to the media are spinning the report. Here's a link to the Al-Reuters report carried by
Al Jazeera.net this morning. More spin -- but the Al Jazeera audience will never know that.
After writing and researching for about an hour, I figured out there are alot of things
in the report, ignored by the media, that contradict the headlines.
Captain Ed says it best, so far. Here's his conclusion:
Over and over again, the CIA and the rest of the American intelligence community told the Bush administration what it had told the Clinton administration -- that Saddam was busily reconstituting his nuclear-weapons programs. Even the INR judged that the evidence could have demonstrated a limited reconstitution effort. Joe Wilson's report fed into that narrative by showing that Iraq had actively sought sources for yellowcake uranium after the IAEA and UNSCOM had locked up their own supplies.
Rather than showing that Bush lied about the intel he was given, this shows that the White House relied on a broad consensus among military and civilian intelligence services to determine that Saddam Hussein was pursuing nukes. The only liar uncovered in the beginning of the Phase II report is Joe Wilson.
In an earlier article, Capt. Ed urges that
we actually read the report before jumping to conclusions. I think that's a good idea. It would also good advice for the MSM as well, but I doubt any mainstream reporter has the time for it in their rush to playlike he/she/it's the next Woodward and Bernstein.
The press lies (
about anything that might discredit Bush)
And kids die (
in Iraq, where the Western press lies are used to recruit terrorists, and get our enemies to hang on and kill more Americans until we consume ourselves through our own political process)
I'm fed up this morning. I'm going to walk my dog, check out some garage sales, and do a little product development for my tiny soap business.
See y'all tomorrow.
