The Word That Must Never Be Spoken ...
There was another nutcase with an SUV who mowed people down in San Francisco yesterday.
Well, anyway, that's what the news would have you believe. Just another random incident, man, donchajes' hate when that happens?
Kind of like those amorphous youths that burned rioted across France last fall, burning thousands of cars -- dang! What on earth pushed their buttons? Just like that poor lad in Chapel Hill awhile back that killed fellow students with his SUV ... just like the mis-understood student at OU that just happened to have a bomb in his backpack, radical Islamist literature on his computer, and hung out at a mosque -- oops! That's just not significant, now, is it?
Or, maybe, like the Washington snipers. Nuthin' to see there, either -- just a couple of lone white guys in a white van, probably Protestant if religious at all ... oops! Forget that one of them went by the preferred name of Mohammed ... naw, not significant. Prolly went nuts from watching the Matrix too many times, yup, that's the ticket. (But consider that the snipers were busted by a private citizen within 12 hours of when the real details were released --- and ask yourself how many lives could have been saved if the real deal had been released weeks earlier ... ?)
Remember just before the Iraqi war started -- remember the serviceman who rolled a grenade into his officers' tent? Wasn't he a black Musl -- shhh! The word must never be spoken!

Now, just which culture and religions in modern times arranges marriages? Does this guy sound Hindii? Buddist, perhaps? Gosh, Orthodox Jew, maybe? I know -- he's a foam at the mouth extremist Presbyterian, right?
The most remarkable thing about this story is the willful blindness of the news. For example, according to a MichelleMalkin source, Omeed drove 41 miles from his home in Fremont to run over people in front of a Jewish center.
When they don't present much identification of a strange perp, chances are the guy's a Muslim. And that lack of information is what allows the public to clump all Muslims together.
That willful blindness of the press and our leaders is going to cost lives in America; I think it already has cost a few lives during the sniper crisis, but nobody's talking about that aspect. It's also setting us up for backlash the like of which has never been seen for hundreds of years.
Here's precisely what has been going on, under our noses. Every religion and culture has its crazies. Radical Islam seems to be working itself into delusional systems of nutty Muslims. Over in the Middle East, it results in suicide bombers, who are feted by their cynical handlers.
Here in the US, nutty Muslims mow down pedestrians in the name of Allah, or shoot random citizens in a sniper-like fashion. But here in America, they're not treated as hero's. They're excused as mental cases, and we turn our eyes away, hoping against hope that everybody stays on their meds.
The thread in common here is Islam. The fewer facts we know, the more the public is likely to consider every Muslim as an enemy, and that's just not true. But, in the eventuality of a terrorist related incident that blows away huge masses of Americans -- we're absolutely set up for a backlash which is likely to wash over every unlucky Muslim in America.
Moderate Muslims really, really need to speak up more, but they're not. Our free press could also help make a clear demarcation -- but that's not happening, either, because our press is no longer free. Editors and reporters are mostly hynotized by the dream of playing-like it's Watergate. (We haven't needed to do Watergate for 30 years. We still don't, because real events don't fit the fantasy.)
What we do need to know is who to watch out for, and who to relax about. Call it profiling, call it what you want -- but there are certain ear-marks that seem to have a common thread in strange, lethal events lately. One is hanging out at a radical mosque. Another is shaved body hair. Statements like death to America, or "I heart jihad," is usually a pretty good indication in my book. Taping a will dedicated to Allah is another.
There is nothing wrong with reporting facts. There is also nothing wrong with making the distinction between Islamofascists crazies and the others of their religion, who are probably as horrified as the rest of us. It's a service to the public.
Now, there's a chance that Omeed's arranged marriage was not to an Islamist fundamentalist bride in Afganistan. There's a chance he's not Muslim. Sure. Maybe he was Hindii! Or Orthodox Jew, lots of those guys in Afganistan, right? And if either of those things were the case, it should have been reported at the first to allay public speculation.
Unfortunately, what we're being told is it's "jes' one of those things," another California crazy, it's all good, move along, nothing to see here, Bush is the real terrorist, mooooooooooo ..... and we can all stampede after the Dems are back in the saddle (but I suppose as long as Dems are in control, it's okay)
