CNN Taps ET For Ratings ...

It's not a great shock that Charley Sheen thinks the Bush administration engineered 9/11. It's a mild surprise that he shared his feelings with Alex Jones ... but the real jaw dropper is that Alex Jones was interviewed on CNN's AJ Hammer Showbiz Tonight, late on Thursday.

Let me explain.

I'll admit it freely. My guilty pleasure in life is "news of the weird." For me, that means CoastToCoast a.m., because you can learn all about the reptilian aliens from Andromeda and their Zionist plot to take over the world ... about bigfoot and chupacra ... and how President Clinton was secretly cloned during the Monica Lewinsky affair.

It's the only website I've actually gotten a paid subscription to, since I usually sleep at night, but it's worth it; what other show opens a special phone line for callers who think they're aliens, or time travelers?

I like to think of CoastToCoast as sort of the collective news subconscious. The issues they discuss are kind of a undercurrent, just below the glittering surface of rationality. During a large enough crisis, the subconscious, and the subconscious minds start working together. And, I've found that before a crisis, many people will find themselves warned by their subconscious -- maybe a bad dream, maybe a bad gut level feeling. (Which can be pretty worthless, since I think alot of people have trouble interpreting subconscious signals in time to do any real good, but ohwell. It happens.)

So, as much fun as Coast to Coast is, I always look for the point where news of the weird intersects with the mainstream -- and, it does intersect, from time to time. I first noticed this after 9/11. Art Bell closed down the open lines for aliens, and his guests and callers discussed the events of 9/11 in an intensely rational way. It was about six weeks before the callers remembered to be worried about the alien invasion or polar shift.

The next time this happened was the tsunami in Indonesia ... the hurricanes on the Gulf Coast, and most recently, the Dubai Ports Deal. It's happening again to a certain extent with Iran.

Now, Alex Jones is a frequent guest on Coast to Coast, particularly since George Noory took over as host two years ago. However, imagine my surprise when CNN featured Alex Jones on AJ Hammer's Showbiz Tonight.

Now, you really need to understand something about Alex Jones. The guy's a bulldog, an impeccable reporter. You can usually take the facts Jones presents to the bank -- but the conclusions he weaves them into are usually absolutely barking batsh*t wacky. He's had a radio show out of Austin for years; if you're in the mood for conspiracy, take a listen. He's one of the best; just understand that he's capable of weaving the lengths of every individual shadow in Austin into a solid case that the sun rises in the West.

Alex Jones has maintained from the first that 9/11 was a huge government plot against the American people, to increase government control and surveillance by the Bush administration. But -- make no mistake. Jones isn't partisan. He's confronted David Gergen about the Bohemian Grove (that's a fun one), and Michael Moore about 9/11 (Moore ran away from him). See, in Alex Jones' world, Republicans and Democrats are pretty much the same; they're all a part of this huge conspiracy to get the US enslaved by the UN, which is run by a small group of elites ... and well, you get the idea.

I was amused when Charley Sheen asked to be interviewed by Alex Jones; the guy's an actor, he's not a great thinker; and the storyline of a massive governmental cover-up would probably be irrestible to him. Separating reality from fun speculation isn't supposed to be on the short list of an actor's strengths.

However, when CNN decided to interview Alex Jones about Charley Sheen, it's not just crossover; it's crossover and trackback with a pirouette. Hammer didn't even bother to explain Jone's unique viewpoint to his audience. Maybe he didn't know, or didn't bother to find out.

I don't know about you -- but I don't really think that the US government ramrodded the planes into the WTC. Theoretically, could we do it? Maybe. However ... remember, the US CIA brought us the failure at the Bay of Pigs. They brought us that abysmal helicopter rescue effort during the Iranian hostage situation. They brought us the Iran Contra affair. They got the US air force to lob a missile at Chinese Embassy during the Kosovo bombings (ooops!)

In short, I just don't think our clandestine services are competent enough to pull something that massive off. Maybe the best use of our CIA really is to sit safely along the Beltway, sip latte, and play computer games. Our military seems to have taken up the slack competently, anyway, and are on a tighter rein.

A couple of nights ago, YoungRoosterBudgie came to me, all excited about "Loose Change," an internet video documentary which he found which claims to expose the governmental coverup of 9/11. He insisted I watch it with him, which I did, since it seemed to be making the rounds

You can see it here ; it's about an hour long and recommended by Alex Jones. If you do decide to watch, notice how early Jim Marrs is quoted in the documentary. You need to know that Jim Marrs' best selling work of nonfiction is "Alien Agenda," an exposee of how extra terrestials are slowly taking over the world under our noses, along with the Illuminati, and according to his research, they've been working on it since the Middle Ages.

I will grant this much, though. After seeing the documentary, I'll concede that there might have been demolition charges in the building. But, if there were, I think they were probably set by Al Quada -- not George Bush.

Alex Jones interviewed "Loose Change" director Dylan Avery here. about the documentary. It's all a part of getting the truth out.

So, what does it mean that AJ Hammer interviewed Alex Jones? Oh, I dunno. Ratings, probably. I suppose viewers from the reptilian alien segment of the population is better than no audience at all.

Submitted for trackback at Cao's -- the hostest with the mostest.
