Aussie Violence: Race Riots, or Justifiable Backlash ...?
The rioting in Australia continues.

From Reuters: SYDNEY (Reuters) - More than 450 policemen, four times the usual number, will patrol Sydney's streets on Tuesday to prevent a third night of racial violence by youth gangs who have attacked people, smashed cars and hurled rocks at police.

Officials also said the state parliament of New South Wales (NSW) was being called into emergency session on Thursday to give police special powers to "lockdown" parts of Sydney, Australia's biggest city, to stop the unrest.

Police will also be allowed to ban consumption of alcohol in areas of unrest by shutting down licensed premises and prohibiting anyone from carrying liquor...

Controlling ethanol is probably a wise intervention. Unlike France, I predict that the Aussies can make a quick decision about how to control the violence.

Let's take a closer look at the "race riots". First, it's a little known fact that Muslim gangs have been terrorizing Sydney streets for more than a year. Tim Priest reported activities almost two years ago.

Here are a few instructive reactions reported by IRIS Blog, title link:

-I'm an Australian with Chinese heritage. I think what happened at Cronulla is shameful and un-Australian. I'm proudly singing "We are Australian" because that is what Australia is and we should be proud of it. On the other hand, I also urge the Muslim community to behave better as their attitude recently such as preaching violence and jihad, praising Osama bin Laden, making awful comments about women wearing mini skirts, etc has sparked tension with other communities.

-The Cronulla uprising was the culmination of the community saying "enough is enough" to the fear and intimidation tactics used for years by young "men" of middle eastern appearance. It is sad that the protest deteriorated in the manner in which it did but let's not forget this would not have happened if these youths embraced our culture and values in the first place

-I believe the riots are indicative of the frustration Aussies have felt over the years of the Government's soft touch on these minority groups who choose to live in our great country but choose not to abide by its laws and cultural expectations. Good on the Aussies for finally fighting back

I think the following comment sums it up nicely:

-As an Australian I did find the riot quiet disheartening as we are usually a county that bands together for the good of it. I think it is a shame that this has happened but when you look around and find that we as Aussies are forced to accept every other nationalities special religious days but we are supposed to give ours up because it will upset the minority and is offensive. At daycare some are forgoing singing Christmas carols because it appears racist, the Easter Bunny is not acceptable. These people come to this country and should be allowed to celebrate their festivals and we should be allowed to celebrate ours as well without any repercussions from the many other races that have "chosen" to live here. If they don't like it, then they are free to leave and go back to where they came from ...

In her book "Rage," Oriani Fallici wrote about Muslim immigrants to Italy urinating on Renaissance sculptures. Last year, FrontPageMagazine discussed a world wide rape jihad ... and it strikes me that while we're hearing about racist riots in Australia -- who's carrying the stories about how Muslim immigrants kick their host countries in the teeth ... ?

Like Australia, America is a nation of immigrants. Traditionally, those immigrants learned the language, worked hard, and made a better life for their kids. Take for example, the Irish who made this country their home. Or, consider American blacks -- who got off to the roughest of beginnings, being brought here as slaves. Yet, although there are alot of problems in urban areas, the majority of African-Americans consider themselves -- well, American. Some even vote Republican.

Have you noticed that nobody ever howls about how Asia-Americans are victimized.

Yet, Muslim immigrants seem to expect to move into any country, and never have to assimilate or to have consequences, regardless of the actions of their youths -- and why do those angry Muslim youths have so much free time, anyway?

Why do Western nations allow themselves to be ruthlessly exploited by some segments of the Muslim immigrant community (which seem to be protected by the other segments of the community) ... ?

I'm reading Walid Phares' new book, Future Jihad. In it, he explains some of the concepts missed by Western Culture. For example, he relates that while in school in the Middle East, every discussion of Jihad had only one meaning -- and it's not feel good soul searching.

Second, he points out that even the introspective type of jihad is supposed to be in service of the armed jihad -- against other cultures.

And, finally, he discusses the fact that for Muslims, there are only two worlds: the world of Islam, and the world that hasn't converted to Islam. Which is us, folks.

I'm not going to condemn all Muslims in this article. I can't.

However, I do think it's time for us in the Western world to stop kidding ourselves.

While the majority of Muslims are probably not into violence -- there are many who are not our friends, and who need consequences like jail time more than they need unconditional love.

Second UPDATE: From The Sydney Morning Herald: SHOTS were fired at teachers' cars, and parents and children were abused at a primary school Christmas carol service in Sydney, the Catholic Church has said.

The Catholic Archbishop of Sydney, George Pell, said people at a service on Monday night at St Joseph the Worker Primary School in Auburn were abused by men of Middle Eastern appearance.

He said shots were also heard and staff yesterday morning found bullet holes in their cars.

Cardinal Pell says he is deeply concerned by the targeting of Christmas celebrations for students as young as five and the attack appears to have been motivated by religious intolerance.

The SydneyMorningHerald's also reporting that Middle Easterners have been attacked as far away as Perth and Adelaid.
